It's Summertime summertime sum-sum-sumertime
This semester should be interesting. Enviornmental biology and the lab promise to be a little challenging. In the lab we are doing in 4 weeks what is normally done in a regular semester. The big project is a lab report based on planting seeds in soil and recording their growth. As a control, we used Hyponex which goes for about $.99 at Big Lots. The test soil is Sta Green which seems to be pretty good. Other groups used soils like Miracle Gro as their test soil. Anyway, the seeds were planted yesterday and now go under growth lights. Each week we measure the growth and at the end of the 4 weeks our lab report is due. Exciting stuff. Every Monday we will have a quiz on the material from the past week. I also found out the final is open note, which rocks.
The lecture portion is also going to be interesting. The prof is very dry and talks slowly with a southern twang. I found it very difficult to pay attention yesterday because his voice made me drowsy. And yesterday wasn't even really a lecture. We went over expectations, the syllabus, etc. We'll see how today goes. I am bringing my voice recorder just in case I find it difficult to pay attention. But that may still be a problem when I have to listen to the playback!
Aubrey did great with the baby yesterday. I hope that continues to be the case because without Aubrey to h elp with the baby I'm screwed for summer school. I did finally get some help for this fall. The mom of one of my Girl Scouts has stepped up to help out. I need to tell her that I'll only need her for the fall because I think my mom wants to come back again this winter.
I can't believe I'm on the final climb to graduation. I have to admit that I had a hard time seeing myself as a college graduate! But coming this close to it, I can finally see that it's possible. Of course it was always possible. I'm a believer in visualization though. If you can't see yourself doing something, to me it's unlikely that you will ever achieve it. Vision is important.
Well, I'd better get back to the books. I still have chapter summaries due for my independent study course on social welfare.
