Pregozila

When people were planning my baby showers, I completely left it into their care.  Afterall, they were doing ME a favor, right?  My only request was that a few people be invited that weren't able to come to other showers.  I offered to help have a shower for my friend who is due in November.  This friend was the sweetest person before she got pregnant.  It's not that she's awful now, but she irritates the hell out of me and the things that are said or done sometimes.

Last month I gave her a bunch of clothes that I was passing on because they didn't fit Julia anymore.  Imagine my surprise when Pregozilla gave me back a bunch of them saying "I don't want my child wearing anything that says 'Princess" or 'Mommy's Girl' or 'Daddy's Girl' because she doesn't want that stigma given to the child or to show preference.  Now these are not things I had bought for myself.  They were things given to me and it really hurt my feelings that instead of just passing them on to someone else, she returned them to me with this insight into her parenting.

The shower is tomorrow and I just got a note telling me to "make sure" that I have certain things there for people.  That I have pieces of paper for people to write notes to the baby (I'm sorry you're mom's a psycho) and name tags.  I mean... if she wanted those things she could just as easily picked them up and brought them along, don't you think?  Gah... was I this bad when I was pregnant???? 

I know it's the hormones, but the whole "better than thou" attitude is getting very old and I feel bad about not wanting to spend time with her.  Thank goodness I'm busy with school and organizations.  For now I bite my tongue, hold back my advice, and hope that her idealism doesn't throw her into a tailspin when the baby comes and she realizes that just because you want to rasie kids a certain way, or do things that all the experts say work doesn't mean that they will work.

I would NEVER give a party for someone with such little grace. Name tags seem absurd to me as well, shouldn't you know the people at your party and introduce those who don't know each other?

Fucking hell. She sounds a total nightmare. My lovely assistant is pregnant and if she turns into pregzilla Im sure gonna kick her ass. And WTF with the baby clothes? Jeez. All babies do is puke on em anyways. My baby clothes were about thrid hand when I got em and theyve been round God knows how many babies since. Give her a slap, Kell! s x
