Back into the grind
I'm feeling a little out of control this semester. Of course starting out the year with the entire family sick was really no great way to kick off any kind of semester. I had pneumonia, Aubrey had strep throat, the baby has been hacking and coughing and congested, and Carl had the flu followed up by a staph infection from his lowered immune system. It's been realy fun around here. thank God my mom is here again and she has been able to help with the baby and make sure we are eating and drinking!
It's the third week of school and already I'm stressed. For two years I've been jumping through their hoops and doing projects and assignments. You would think that as seniors they would cut us a small break this semester, right? Nuh uh. I have more work due this semester than ever before and I'm really scared that I'm not going to be able to get it all done.
Social Work Practice III class is a macro level class so we're working with groups and the community. I have to work with a group to do a community service project. It's very detailed with writing group papers as steps along the way to completion. Yes... group papers.
Social Policy is a class about... well... social policy. I have to choose a government policy and write a 15-page paper as a GROUP for this class. I would rather write a 30-page paper by myself than have to write ANY paper as a GROUP. *sigh* My topic is a living wage. At least the people in my group will be interested in the topic as most of them work to have money for school.
Senior Seminar is a review of everything we've learned in the social work program to get ready for the exit exam (ACAT) and the licensure exam for social work. It meets once a week on Tuesdays for THREE HOURS. Today's three hour lecture is on APA Style. Gah! Can you even imagine a lecture about writing papers APA style that lasts three hours??? I think I shall have to kill someone by the end of the day.
My last class is an elective called Theories of Crime. It's pretty interesting as it's all online. The discussion board freaks me out from time to time as you have people that say criminals commit crimes because they are lazy and stupid. One guy argued last night about a theory that believes criminals suffer from some mental, biological, or genetic defect from everyone else. The guy was so gung ho about it until I pointed out that they only people they test this theory on are people who have been caught and are in prison. What about the criminals who don't get caught? How do you know about their intelligence or defects if you never catch them to compare them to the other criminals? Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm.
Well, I'd better get going so I can at least get some Starbucks for class. Keeping awake is important because if they catch you sleeping you have to leave the classroom and take an absence. LOL Have a great day everyone.

LOL Some people are so thick. I used to steal cars all the time and I never got caught and I'm thick as shit, haha. Smashxxx PS Good to see you back, I've missed you!
